Pumpkin Patch

Well, my pumpkin patch is actually only a pumpkin of one. Tonight for activity days I had the girls make curled paper pumpkins. This is the one I made as an example. The girls really enjoyed the craft and they were a big hit with everybody that saw them. I have all the activities planned out for the rest of the year and even a few for next year. There are activities that I would like to do but they would work best with many children, I only have 2 girls and will soon have 3 but only for a few months. I love coming up with the different activities but every time Wednesday night comes around I don't feel like going but I usually end up having a good time. I am grateful for this calling and that activity days is only twice a month.

This is for you Beth and anyone else who might want it.

Curled Paper Pumpkin: Items Needed – 1) 1 sheet orange construction paper 2) Scrap strips of brown and green construction paper 3) White craft glue 4) Pencil 5) String 6) Scissors Directions – 1) Cut orange construction paper into half-inch strips. 2) Wrap strips around a pencil. Remove from the pencil and glue the end of the strip to close the circle. Repeat for as many circles as you need to create your pumpkin, we made 22 3) Lay the circles on your work surface and arrange them into the shape of a pumpkin. 4) Glue the circles together 5) Cut three green strips about three to four inches long. Curl the end of each strip around a small paint brush or simply roll it up to get a tighter curl. Glue the straight end into the top of your pumpkin to create the green leaves. 6) Cut a brown strip of paper about two inches long. Fold in half and insert into the top of the pumpkin to create a stem and secure with glue 7) Once everything has dried, you can tie a piece of string through the pumpkin stem and hang from a suction cup hook.

So cute! Just noticed that Beth made some, and she said the idea came from you. I must have missed this post!

I was the Activity Days leader in our ward, until Dave was called to the Young Men's presidency. It's HARD to find new things to have the girls do all the time!
